The short answer is no.
If you have kids, you most likely will have a bunch of battery-operated toys. AA batteries will probably be the most common batteries for these toys. There are many types available such as Alkaline, Lithium, NiMH, NiZN, and NiCD batteries. I’ve decided to go with rechargeable NiMH batteries a long time ago, which has saved me money in the long-run and is safer for the environment.
It is tempting to mix batteries when you run out of one type and need just one more of that Eneloop to get your kid’s remote control car up and running again. Whatever you do, don’t mix.
As to why you should not, well, every brand of battery is made with different goals. One brand might design its batteries with longevity in mind. Another may be designed with more storage capacity (mAh). In other words, they all have different technology, and mixing them in a single device may reduce performance, leak, rupture, overheat, or even explode – all not good.
My solution is to stick with the same brand of batteries generally. If it is urgent, look for a device currently not in use, which uses the same brand batteries you need, and get the batteries out of those to complete your set until you get more of the same brand rechargeable batteries.
