You may have updated your Malwarebytes recently and was shocked to discover that your Free edition is no more and instead have a 14-day Premium Trial edition. It’s not entirely transparent that you still have access to the Free version.
Note: The premium Edition offer real-time protection and the free version does not. A detailed comparison can be found here.
To revert back to Malwarebytes Free edition here’s what you need to do…
Open Malwarebytes, go to Settings on the left side panel, then to Account Details on the upper tabs. Then down below, click on the Deactivate Premium Trial button.
A confirmation message will pop up, click Yes.
A User Account Control confirmation message may also pop up, click Yes.
Another message from the bottom of the screen will pop up will state that Your Premium Trial expired with the options to Upgrade to real-time protection or I don’t need real-time protection, select the latter and click OK.
Another User Account Control Control confirmation pop up will appear, click Yes.
You’ll then see your version shown as Malwarebytes Free which will never expire.
Hope this helps!
Note: For those interested in purchasing a 1-year subscription of Malwarebytes, it is available for purchase and download on Amazon for $39.99.
