According to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), food items that you can take are cakes, pies, bananas, apples, oranges, apples, oranges, meat, candy, gum, granola bars, pretzels, brownies, chips, cookies, and pastries. Items that you may bring BUT must be wrapped or in a container are cheeseburgers, firm cheese, sliced fruit, and sandwiches.
Items that you can’t take are gravy, salad dressings, oils, vinegar, jams, jellies, soups, creamy dips, spreads, wine, liquor, beer, cranberry sauce, salsa, sauces, maple syrup, yogurt, any beverage that you didn’t buy at a duty-free shop, and gift baskets that include any of the prohibited items.
Fortunately there is a cool app called MyTSA which allows you to quickly search which items you can bring with you through the checkpoint onto the airplane. Just remember that the TSA officials ultimately have the final say of what you can or cannot take so don’t be surprised if they say no when you try to take your nicely wrapped cheeseburger with you on the plane.
