I remember watching My Neighbor Totoro when I was in elementary school and just falling in love with the movie. The story, the characters, the house, the scenery, the soundtrack, the animation.. you could not help but all in love with everything. It was a magical experience that I intend to share with my kids. I enjoyed Howl’s Moving Castle, Castle In The Sky, Ponyo, Arrietty and many beautiful titles from Studio Ghibli. Hayao Miyazaki announced his retirement in 2013 and that it was time to hand the reins over to younger staff.
BUT after reading an article at Travelers Today, I am excited to learn that he wants to work on one more film. Miyazaki was recently working on a short film titled “Kemushi no Boro” (“Boro the Caterpillar”) which he became satisfied with. Now he plans to develop it into a full-length movie it seems. I hope he does and when it comes out, I will be there to watch.
Thank you Hayao Miyazaki for all the wonderful things you have done.
