There was a time when traveling was easy… and then came kids! Hauling a 2 and 8-year-old around can be quite an adventure in itself and trying to pack as light as possible and as compact as possible can be challenging but rewarding when you’re at the airport and not hauling several luggage to be checked in and can’t help but pat your self on the back when all you have are a few backpacks and free hands to manage your kids. I’m a guy, a tall guy whose clothes take up a lot of space in one’s bag and trying to fit several days worth of clothes in a backpack is not possible when crammed with basic toiletries, a laptop, and other gadgets. Unless you have an enormous bag that you’ll only use that one time of the year, it’s simply not going to happen. Thank God someone found a way! I came across this YouTube video by Toby Lerone who pretty much demonstrated a way to roll up a full outfit in a burrito-like manner and it’s brilliant. Check it out:
I know what your thinking, stretched out socks? No thank you! As a response, other people have suggested the use of old socks, ankles socks, rubber bands, hair bands, straps and other items to keep the roll together. I admit that this skivvy roll method is probably good for 90% of male clothing and only 20% of female clothing and not the best method to avoid wrinkles. But for normal pants, shirt, underwear, and socks, when a few wrinkles aren’t a big deal.. this method is golden! And if you roll it up carefully, you can avoid a lot of wrinkles. I use it for my workout clothes and can stuff it in my bag taking no more space than my water bottle does! Simply brilliant.
