Mindful Consumption

We live in a world where consumption is a significant part of our lives. We bring in so much stuff, it’s easy to overlook those items and ask the question, “do I need this?”. Even more critical, when you do ask yourself that question, what do you do about it. Often things find their way into our homes, they linger without ever being used, we give them meaningless value, and they stay. These objects become meaningless, yet we give them meaning in our minds that don’t make any sense—this a very toxic habit to break. Instead, we should make an effort to think about the things we bring into our lives and then do something about it. If we truly need it and use it, and it provides value, then keep it, but investigate this. If we don’t need it, don’t give it a lame meaning such as “maybe someday I’ll use it.”
