It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on hard drive space. Sometimes you never know when something is taking up more space than it should. A quick check using a hard drive space analyzer or disk usage statistics tool reveals where those heavy files live. For Windows, I recommend using WinDirStat or SpaceSniffer. Or, if you’re on a Mac, use DaisyDisk.
My recent check revealed that a game called StarCraft II had 43 GB worth of data in a folder named SC2Data > data. Many have suggested that a clean install will reduce this. After some reading, I decided to go for the less aggressive approach:
1. Delete the contents inside the SC2Data > data folder, which consists of large files named data.000, data.001, data.002, and so on.
2. Run Battle.net and update StarCraft II. StarCraft II will download a fresh copy of all the files we deleted.
My SC2Data > data folder which use to be 43 GB is now 23 GB, freeing up 20 GB worth of space on my hard drive.
I hope this helps.
