The 14-in-1 Solar Powered Robot For Kids

My 8-year-old is really digging this toy, the OWI 14-in1 Educational Solar Robot! There are instructions for 14 different robots but with a little experimenting, I bet kids can come up with more. A fairly inexpensive kit which comes with a motor, solar panel, cogs, and all the parts needed to make some cool robots! It does require a good amount of time from mommy or daddy, in the beginning, to help cut out the parts and put them in labeled ziplock bags but all the prep work will come in handy when your little Einstein begins to assemble and create his or her bots!

I had my boy do most of the prep work and only stepped in when there were difficult parts to cut out or if I needed to slice off a piece of plastic with a box cutter. Tools that you will need are a sprue cutter or nipper to cut off the plastic pieces and something to smooth out any plastic attachment bur left over from the cutting such as an X Acto knife, box cutter or sandpaper for plastic. I can’t stress enough how important it is to remove any plastic attachment bur as this may affect the movement of parts. Invest the time in the prep work and you’ll be good to go!

Here’s a cool video from the makers of this awesome kit which showcases some of the cool things you can build!

The kit can be purchased on Amazon for $38.99, $24.24 if you have Prime or directly from the OWI website at http://owirobot.com/14-in-1-educational-solar-robot-kit/ for $33.95.
