The Apple Store

I can’t remember exactly when it happened but eventually Apple had made a symbol for itself. The symbol was this cool looking glass cube which had “hey look at me – I am the future” written all over it. Or something of that nature.

The symbol was, and still is, an Apple Store. Specifically the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue, New York designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson.

The entry is a glass cube with the Apple logo floating at center of it. How cool is that?! The Simpson’s even took note of it and spoofed it in one of there episodes 🙂

Pretty funny episode and bordering mocking Apple in a way. But the truth of the matter is that it really was a trend, a new culture, a new way to identify.. sort of like fashion. After people got past the glass cube icon it really came down to hardware and the user experience and the rest is history.
